KPS Autumn Term House Prize Competition

Last term, Kensington Park Senior School launched a house system encouraging pupils to participate in various competitions to win house points and ultimately trophies and other rewards by producing exemplary work and contributing to school life. The four houses are named; Effra, Fleet, Tyburn and Walbrook. Students have shown immense dedication to work with their housemates to gather as many points as possible throughout the term.

The competition has been fierce this term, with Tyburn pulling into the lead early in the term leaving the other houses behind. However, at the last minute there was much speculation as to whether or not Effra would be able to close the gap between the two front-runners. Fleet and Walbrook did their best and tried to chase the two leaders down, both winning House events (General Knowledge and Poetry Prize respectively) but, unfortunately, their competitors were already too far ahead. A few weeks before the end of term, the competition prize for the winning House was announced – ice skating at the Natural History Museum. This announcement spurred all houses to battle even harder for the chance to secure themselves a place on the House trip, however there could be only one winning house.

The results of the Autumn term House competition were as follows:

1st place – Tyburn with 360 points

2nd place – Effra with 347 points

3rd place – Walbrook with 311 points

4th place – Fleet with 286 points

As winners, all members of Tyburn were lucky enough to spend an afternoon ice skating instead of in lessons. The acclaimed winners had a lovely walk through Hyde Park and then spent an hour on the ice. The resident ice skater in Tyburn, Andy, amazed not only his House with tricks and spins but also the rest of the public on the ice. By the end of the session and some masterclasses from Andy, everyone was skating around the ice unaided and rightly looking very proud of themselves. What a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the term as well as the exceptional achievements of our pupils! There are two more terms to go with the House trophy to be awarded to the overall winning House at the end of the academic year. Good luck!
